Durham Changes Polling Location

Durham's polling location has changed from the Durham Community School to the AMVETS Post #13, 1049 Royalsborough Rd.

The location change is the result of a request from RSU5 to the Town of Durham to hold its smaller turnout elections in a location other than the Durham Community School in order to protect students. During elections, the side door to the school must remain open all day, which means the school is not secured. Large turnout elections will still be held at the DCS, but students will not be in school on those days. Durham has limited facilities to hold elections so the Town studied areas, locations, parking, accessibility, lighting, and multiple other factors. The Town filed a report of these findings with the Secretary of State and the new location was approved.

The new polling location will take effect with the next election, set for Tuesday, March 3. Polling hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
